CD or DVD drive hide or disappears in Windows 7

By default, Windows 7 automatically hides the empty drives in the Computer folder. This can be verified by inserting a disc into the drive; it should automatically make the drive visible in Windows.
SOLUTION
Follow these steps to make your DVD or Blu-Ray drive permanently visible:

Click Start, Control Panel and then Tools.
Click Folder options, and then select the View tab.
Clear the Hide empty drives in the Computer folder check box and click OK.
Your DVD or Blu-Ray drive is now permanently visible in your Computer folder.
Note: If the device was not originally part of the configuration as shipped by Acer, please contact the technical support of its manufacturer.
